How to Pick the Right AI Model for Every Prompt (and Give Your Folders Custom Icons)
By Emmanuel Abou Chabke, Founder and Editor · Reviewed by the AIQuickPrompt editorial team · About the publisher
Two new features just landed in AIQuickPrompt. Recommended model reads your prompt and suggests two models: the best one for the job and the most economical one that still does it well. Folder icons let you swap the plain folder symbol for a meaningful icon, and Pro members can describe any icon and have AI draw it. This guide explains how each one works, why picking the right model is the easiest way to save AI credits, and a few habits to get the most out of both.

What is the Recommended model feature?
Recommended model is a button inside the AI Optimise window. Press Recommend a model and AIQuickPrompt reads the prompt on the card, or the text you pasted, works out what kind of task it is (coding, writing, marketing copy, an image or video prompt, research, data analysis and so on) and suggests two models from the 47 you can run.
You always get two answers. Recommended is the model most likely to give the best result. Most economical is the cheapest fast model that should still do the task well. Each comes with a one-line reason and a Use this button that selects it for you.
- Works on the prompt already saved on the card, or on new text you paste in.
- Only suggests models you can actually run in AI Optimise.
- Free plan: 5 recommendations per day. Pro: 50 per day. It does not use top-up credits.
Why choosing the right model saves AI credits
Most wasted AI spend comes from using a flagship model for a task a fast model handles fine. A short email rewrite does not need GPT-6 Astra, and a tricky multi-step coding prompt is often cheaper on a strong model the first time than on a weak model three times.
The economical suggestion gives you a safe starting point. Run it first, check the answer, and only switch to the recommended premium model when the prompt is long, technical or high stakes. Version history keeps both results so you can compare.
- Everyday writing and summaries | the economical pick is usually enough.
- Coding, reasoning and long structured prompts | try the recommended pick.
- Image, video and music prompts | the models write the prompt text, which you then paste into your image or video tool.
How to use it in three steps
Open a prompt card and tap AI Optimise. Choose Optimise automatically to use the card's prompt, or Enter your prompt to paste new text. Tap Recommend a model, read the two suggestions and press Use this on the one you want. Then press Optimise as usual.
A simple template that gets clear recommendations: describe the goal, the audience and the output format, for example: Write a {{tone}} product description for {{product}} aimed at {{audience}}, 80 words, bullet list.
Folder icons: find the right prompts at a glance
Every folder can now show an icon instead of the plain folder symbol. Hover a folder in the left menu, press the smiley button and pick from more than 40 ready icons, from code and rocket to camera, music, megaphone and finance. Icons also show in the collapsed icons-only menu, which makes it much quicker to jump between folders.

Custom AI icons for Pro members
If none of the ready icons fits, open the Generate an icon tab and describe what you want, for example a purple rocket with a lightning bolt. AI draws a simple app-style icon, you preview it and press Save to use it on the folder.
Because drawing images costs more than text, custom icons are a Pro feature with fair limits: 10 generations per month and a short pause between attempts. The remaining count is always shown before you generate.
- Keep descriptions short: one object, one or two colors.
- Ask for a simple, flat style so it stays readable at small sizes.
- Mix custom icons with ready icons and folder colors for a clear system.
